Kristin Gaston

Attorney

Kristin was born near Detroit, Michigan and grew up a true Midwestern girl with deep Scandinavian roots. Leaving Michigan for college, she attended a small liberal arts school in Minnesota, St. Olaf College. After half a year in Boston and a few years in south Texas, Kristin came to Oregon to attend law school at Lewis & Clark.

Although she hated to leave the Pacific Northwest after law school, Kristin’s first job was with a small plaintiffs’ firm with a focus on environmental law in south Texas where she represented individuals and small business owners with contaminated property. She participated in a case that went to trial in Hidalgo County, Texas that returned a $100 million dollar verdict against multiple oil and natural gas companies.

Kristin returned to Portland in 2008 and shifted her focus to estate planning. Like in her environmental work, Kristin’s focus is on helping people. In estate planning, Kristin helps clients navigate complicated family dynamics and design creative and protective solutions for preserving wealth for future generations.

Rachel Oh

Attorney

Rachel embraces a holistic approach to her law practice, starting with her belief that estate planning is much more than making provisions for the legal transfer of assets after a death.  Rachel helps her clients navigate a wide range of issues relating to wills and trusts, including guardianship for young children, family protection strategies and value-based estate planning.  Her extensive experience representing and advocating for her clients ensures that their final wishes are legally protected, and their last requests are granted.

Rachel believes in a team approach for any estate planning process.  Working beside her clients trusted advisors, Rachel gives her utmost deference and respect to client’s goals, concerns, values and wishes. Rachel's approach makes each step of the planning process transparent, thoughtful, and productive to ensure her clients’ needs are being met.

Rachel received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Brandeis University, graduating with Honors, and returned to her home state of Oregon to earn her Law Degree from Willamette University. Rachel spends her time outside of work exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her two daughters, volunteering in her community and spending time with her extended family and friends.

Paralegal

Alyson was born in California and moved to Portland in 2005 to attend Pacific Northwest College of Art, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking. In 2007 she began working in the legal field, developing an interest in probate and trust matters, a knack for document management and a passion for organization. Since her career as a paralegal has developed simultaneously with her career as an artist she has enjoyed bringing a comprehensive project-based view to her work as a paralegal, and an interest in the importance of the specificity of language to her art practice. When she is not in the office, she can be found in her studio making text-based art on her 100-year-old letterpress or spending time with her husband and cats.

Emma is a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She comes from a family of artists and has a BFA from California Institute of the Arts. She is an award winning writer and filmmaker and her work often centers complex intergenerational family dynamics. Her goal is to amplify Indigenous stories. Jessica Martinez

Legal Assistant

Ashley was born and raised in a small farming town near Spokane, Washington. After being offered her position here at Generations, she and her family moved to Oregon in October 2025. She loves being an Oregonian and exploring all that the state has to offer.

Her legal career began in 2015, when she earned her associate’s degree in paralegal studies and legal office administration. She later went on to complete her bachelor’s degree in public service administration at Whitworth University. Since she graduated, Ashley has worked in various areas of the law, including criminal defense, bankruptcy law, family law and municipal law. She finally found her favorite area of law though when she started working in estate planning. She believes it is the single area of law where we have the privilege of proactively helping people before an issue arises.

Outside of the office, Ashley enjoys spending quality time with her family, thrift shopping, trying new restaurants and going to concerts whenever she can. She adores animals and can often be found visiting the Oregon Zoo.

Jessica is a first-generation Salvadorian-American. She was born and raised in sunny Southern California. She has also lived in the dry desert biomes of Southern Utah, the blue-bonnet blanketed Central Texas, and finally made the misty side of Oregon her forever home. In her free time, Jessica likes to get her steps in by exploring the rain-soaked forests of the Pacific Northwest and exploring the city by utilizing Portland’s great public transportation. She also enjoys live music, dancing, films, and dining out.
