How to Transfer Your Goldman Sachs Accounts Into Your Trust

To complete your estate plan, you will need to retitle your eligible Goldman Sachs accounts into the name of your trust. Follow the steps below:

  1. Contact Goldman Sachs

    • Contact your Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Advisor or the client service team that manages your account.

    • Let them know you would like to transfer your accounts into your trust (this may also be referred to as a change of registration or trust account registration).

  2. Request the Required Forms

    • Ask for the paperwork needed to retitle your accounts into your trust.

    • Confirm whether any additional forms are required for your specific account type.

  3. Provide Trust Documentation

    • Submit a copy of your Certification of Trust or Trust Certification.

    • If requested, provide a complete copy of your trust agreement and any other supporting documentation.

  4. Complete and Sign the Paperwork

    • Fill out all required forms accurately.

    • If your trust has multiple trustees, all required trustees may need to sign the documents.

  5. Submit the Documents

    • Return the completed paperwork and supporting documents to Goldman Sachs.

    • Your advisor or client service representative can assist with the submission process.

  6. Confirm the Transfer

    • Verify that all eligible accounts have been successfully retitled into the name of your trust.

    • Review updated account statements or request written confirmation showing the new account registration.

  7. Keep Copies for Your Records

    • Retain copies of all submitted paperwork.

    • Store updated account statements with your estate planning documents.

Important Notes

  • Retirement accounts (such as IRAs and 401(k)s) are generally not retitled into a trust. Instead, review and update your beneficiary designations if appropriate.

  • Certain account types may have additional requirements or may not be eligible for trust ownership.

  • If you have questions about whether an account should be transferred into your trust, consult your estate planning attorney before completing the transfer.
