How to Transfer Your Chase Bank Accounts Into Your Trust

If you have eligible Chase checking, savings, money market, or certificate of deposit (CD) accounts, you can generally transfer ownership to your trust by updating the account registration. Follow the steps below to begin the process.

1. Contact Chase

  • Visit your local Chase branch or contact Chase Customer Service.

  • Let them know you would like to transfer your eligible bank accounts into your trust.

  • Ask what forms and documentation are required to complete the ownership change.

2. Gather Your Trust Documents

  • Have a copy of your Certification of Trust or Trust Certification available.

  • If requested, provide a complete copy of your trust agreement.

  • Bring a valid government-issued photo ID for all trustees who are required to sign.

3. Complete the Required Forms

  • Fill out the account ownership or trust registration forms provided by Chase.

  • Sign any new signature cards or account documents as required.

  • If your trust has multiple trustees, all required trustees may need to sign.

4. Submit Your Documents

  • Return the completed forms and supporting documentation to Chase.

  • Depending on the account and your location, this may be completed during your branch visit or through additional processing.

5. Verify the Transfer

  • Confirm that your eligible accounts have been successfully retitled into the name of your trust.

  • Review updated account statements or other documentation showing the new account ownership.

Additional Information

  • Eligible checking, savings, money market, and CD accounts can generally be retitled into a revocable living trust.

  • Some account types may have additional requirements or may not be eligible for trust ownership.

  • If you have questions about whether an account should be transferred into your trust, consult your estate planning attorney before completing the process.

  • Keep copies of your completed paperwork and updated account records with your estate planning documents.
